Yep it's proboards! They're notorious for maintaining PG-13 sites and content. But lucky for us, we're out here to run a PG-13 crime site. Since this is fiction writing we shouldn't run into any issues so long as we're not writing viciously graphics scenes or images. This site is more about the character complexity and building relationships than it is for roleplaying out heinous crimes. Think about organized crime here as more of a setting than a plot. It brings in a unique draw and creates problematic characters, all of which we love and want to see develop. So please don't join here assuming you can roleplay out your gore fantasies. Staff is on high guard for this kind of content and can lead to suspensions, deletion of content, or instant bans.

Secondarily, sexual content is also forbidden. You may fade to black or imply what happened, but any kind of detail is also grounds for suspensions and bans. Take it to discord if you'd like, but it cannot be posted here.

As for talking about past traumas and triggers, feel free to mention all the treacherous stuff your character did or went through in your history. Please write it mindfully of course, but it's allowed to be included.


Note how these terms aren't used in any of the examples in the settings page. Because we are a character-driven roleplay we are avoiding humanitarian types of crimes in the roleplay. We would prefer your character not have them as active situations within the rp either, even if it's not typed out. Example; don't give your character the occupation 'kidnapper', even if you never plan to write it out. There's a plethora of other occupations to choose from, be creative! We don't want any harm to anyone else's characters so thank you for understanding this exception.


We are a fairly 'realistic' roleplay in reguards to characters' appearances. Colored hair is absolutely allowed, although it'd be under the impression of dyed instead of born with. We also welcome all races and ethnicities to this roleplay!
There are no fantasy elements allowed. This includes; skin of abnormal color (pink, blue, purple), eyes of abnormal color, elf ears, horns, animal features, or any supernatural powers/abilities. Please also avoid faceclaims with these features.

Welcome to Tokyo, Japan. January, 1991. The world has entered the technology era, portable phones, home computers, internet, video games. Japan quickly became the epicenter of the latest and greatest. Companies and factories flourished. Where money was, people followed. And while many rose to live a comfortable, happy, and delightful life from this newfound money... Others did not. You see, money has this effect on people that can't be outdone. People will do anything for it. And when it starts slipping into the wrong hands, it's impossible to stop. Beneath the day time laborers and the double-shift workers, a seedy underbelly of syndicates exists. Narcotics, the black market, organized crime, money laundering, you name it and it's been growing as fast as the upper world economy. While many do it just to stay alive, there are those who make it their posh lifestyle. Either way the world's unfair, so might as well make the most of what you've been dealt.

Three notorious criminal types are most common within Japan.

The Ajiwau, (味わう), meaning to savor or relish in. They're the high class elites, the richest of rich either born or made into this organization. They handle a majority of the black market trade, stock market fraud, gambling, and highly valued drugs. Their members are some of the top politicians and businessmen in the world, or just those who are rich off their illegal trade and wish to revel with like-minded people. The pinnacle of being successful in Ajiwau is keeping your true identity secret. You don't know anyone and no one knows you. If you meet in person you better pray you're a good liar. Do what these leaders want and they'll rank you up in no time. You can have everything you want in life, but as with their lifestyle, the cost is high.

The Tsumaru, (詰まる), meaning choke, but also could translate to support. This group considers themselves a family. They're extremely close knit and always in each other business. What one knows, everyone knows. Or so they say. Theyre not immune from their secrets and lies like everyone else, but they will swear truth to you until they're blue in the face. They handle a lot of the city's money laundering, even called the 'underground accountants', cheap drug trade, and high-value robberies. Typically men are the bulk of this organization, although a few strong-will women have also joined. Despite the way the Ajiawau look down on them, they're pretty smart and hold up as a powerful underground crime ring. They seek out those with skill to join their group, not just anyone can get in. But if you do, you have a new family of thousands to protect you.

The Freeman, (フリーマン), meaning exactly how it sounds, free men. Not an organization, but a name for criminals who don't affiliate with anyone and do what they want or what they need to survive. This is the most dangerous type of criminal, as they don't have the support of an organization to keep them safe or sane. They have all the skills they need to survive and often times survive well. Some are agitators, some are just out to exist. Petty crime, cheap drugs, and selling stolen goods are the name of the game for the Freeman.
