Yue was born into what anyone looking in from the outside would call the lap of luxury. Growing up with a loving mother and a successful, powerful Ajiwau father, he wanted for nothing. Life was simple and he enjoyed a boyhood of spoiling - fancy parties, elite schools, pretty clothes. He was a sickly, frail thing, however, and despite being able to do so much, was frequently kept inside. Away from the elements, society, his three older brothers. As if he didn't exist. It was all right there in front of him, but he was often stuck to watch from behind closed doors. He had only one friend (at least, that was what his mother called him - to Yue, he was more of an annoyance) and even he was rarely able to spend time outside of school. By fifteen, with no end of the sporadic illness spells in sight, he was sent to their northern hometown to study and hopefully become well. [break][break] What awaited him there was far different than he expected. Far different from the life he'd led until then. He did become stronger, but for the sake of survival rather than simply his health. He'd always assumed their family ran some sort of conglomerate. But now he experienced first-hand his family's actual dealings, the dark inner-workings of their "business" and the power of the people running it. No one took him seriously. He wasn't doted upon or guided. He dropped from the highest rank to the lowest, despite being a revered son, and had to adapt to the reality of the world he barely knew a thing about before his arrival. He attempted to run once but the people there, his uncle specifically, only rained down harder on him. [break][break] He lived there for what would have been three years but barely missed the mark when he received news to return home early. There was supposed to be a grand celebration upon his return. A coming of age party of sorts. There was still a gathering, but his parents had both been killed in a car accident (of the premeditated sort) and what he returned home for was their funeral. Devastated and shocked but infinitely angry at them for sending him away to begin with, he could hardly grieve. It was supposed to be that Yue, the favored baby son, would inherit the largest portion of their wealth and that the brothers would share equal power in their dealings, but with all that was happening and Yue being only seventeen, his brothers withheld what was his and established their hold on the business. They were all collectively upset at their parents' decision to flush most of their funds into the organization in order to keep the brothers invested, still more proud of what they'd built than what they'd raised, it seemed. Yue was given his share of the money but was made to work directly beneath the other three for the four following years since they'd collectively decided he "wasn't ready" and didn't yet have enough firsthand experience. [break][break] He was none the wiser about what exactly he was supposed to inherit but did know he wanted out of the world he'd been bred into. He was obedient. He went along nicely with them, feigning the still naive, fragile brother they thought he was. He allowed them to use him, hoping to work his way to a different life. He'd learned from his failed attempt in the past and thought he might succeed this time, but the moment he even considered taking steps to escape, as if they could sense his plans, he was sent to Japan to manage the business they had with the various branches there and realized his desire to escape would likely never be met. Now living in a new place, part of his wish has come true. Because of his minimal presence as a child and total absence as a teen, most people didn't even know he existed until he was sent as a polished trophy to Japan. Though still restricted, he has been able to behave more on his own terms.
