The two children, led by hand, eagerly followed their fathers footsteps as he knelt down on the grass, urging them to do the same. Little to no words were exchanged between the trio as the father began gathering dry sticks that seemed conveniently piled alongside the fence post, arranging them meticulously, as though this were a practice he had carried out a hundred times prior. His daughter, Yua, eagerly followed his polished movements as she observed her father reach into his pocket, revealing a handful of cotton and a decorated lighter. The young girl watched in awe, as though he were performing a magic trick before her very eyes. Soon, a small fire had been birthed, and the silence of their gathering was now filled with the occasional crackling of the flames, a sound that would become all too familiar to Yua and her twin brother, Hiroaki. For a while they simply watched as the raw flame danced before their child-like gazes in an enticing performance. The orange glow that emanated from the burning pile felt like a warm hug, comforting Yua’s heart as she hugged her knees and remained transfixed. The only words that were spoken that night came from their father. “Live by the fire, die by the fire.”[break][break] Being one of many children produced by the esteemed leader (Sugawara Kenta) of a small town cult was never a challenge in the eyes of Yua growing up. From a young age she willingly placed herself in his shadow in hopes that one day he would be proud of the child he had created during his first, yet not last, relationship with a woman. Adoration was a weak work to describe just how much Yua looked up to her father, yet obsession was too far. Yua’s childhood was fairly uneventful if one were to look past the fact that she was born into a fire-worshipping neighbourhood with cultist tendencies. School and home life was average, and she was surrounded by one or two close friends, however challenges began to present themselves in other forms as she grew older. Problems like her twin brother. Sugawara Hiroaki. As the children grew older, favouritism and priorities became clear as day. Deep-set hatred began to brew in Yua’s heart as she became aware of the fact that the competition for their fathers approval was rigged and unfair. Both children were adored by their father, but Yua a little less, simply due to the fact that she was a female. Couldn’t he see how much she idolised him? Could he not see the lengths she went to in order to be just like him?[break][break] Several years later, during the cults crusade to burn down an abandoned hospital in hopes of sending a message to the government, detrimental outcomes prevailed. Copious amounts of gasoline set the building ablaze, just as planned, however one reckless command would cause the aleatory death of many. Kenta had encouraged his mindless followers to stay and embrace the flames as they grew wildly, leading to those engulfed in the fire to pass away. Kenta was one of many lost on that deleterious night, causing 10 children to live without the presence of a father for the remainder of their time on earth. For some, the taste of freedom was irresistible, causing them to escape the confines of the toxic community they were brought up in. Siblings who fled after the death of their father were placed on a black list in Yua’s mind, illustrating her disappointment in how quick they were to abandon ship. Yua, of course, stayed behind. In her childhood home she continued to live, rebuilding what she could from the rubble of the community in hopes of continuing her father’s legacy. Even as a fully grown woman, Yua still competes for her fathers adoration and approval, trapping her in an endless cycle of idolising a dead man.[break][break] PERSONALITY ⋆"let it burn out, don't fight it,"[break][break] After spending her childhood years mimicking her father, Yua adopted certain personality traits from Kenta, like his stoic nature when leading, devotion to his craft, and most surprisingly, his dry humour. At times, Yua can appear unbothered and uninterested, mostly because she is. With her walls highly built and hostility serving as a defence, it seems to be rather difficult to get any form of humanity from her. Despite this, Yua appears quite relaxed more often than not, but in the most intimidating of ways. Armed with silence as her weapon and a glare as lifeless as a rock, Yua’s general vibe is rather frightening, causing her to scare off potential friends, or even innocent bystanders. She lacks the natural want for a romantic relationship, purely due to how she was brought up, with her father and the cult being the only thing she required in life.[break][break] Dealing with grief is different for everyone, and so when her beloved father passed away, Yua’s personality took the spotlight. She never cried once, or showed regret, nor any form of mournful tendencies. For the man she idolised so dearly to die a preventable death, Yua almost seemed militarian when dealing with it. She moved on like a soldier who had lost someone who was nothing but a fellow comrade to her, despite the relationship between the two clearly being incredibly strong. Shovelling away the grief she was experiencing like dirt on a grave, Yua continued, creating her sturdy and stoic defences in order to continue what her father had begun.[break][break] In the present, Yua has carried forth these strong personality traits. Surrounding her is an air of suffocating, unspoken confidence and judgemental thoughts. The silence of her dominating presence is enough to fill up any room,- something that was adopted through having to fight to be heard growing up with 10 siblings. Being one of the eldest, Yua has taken these tendencies with her throughout her adult life, often appearing as mature and authoritative, with inklings of a protective- older-sister streak.[break][break] APPEARANCE ⋆"setting fire with my lighter."[break][break] Standing at an impressive height of 6’2” (190cm), it is no doubt that Yua towers over most, aiding in her desire to be viewed as superior in the eyes of others. It seems that in the Sugawara family, Yua robbed all the height that came from her father. She carries herself well, always standing up straight with perfect posture, shoulders back and chin held high. As if her fixation with trying to be like Kenta couldn’t get any worse, Yua even cut her previously lengthy, blonde hair into the short, under-cut style she sports today, fashioning it in a similar way that her father did. Yua’s dress sense is rather simple. She can often be seen wearing larger, more masculine clothing, like suit jackets and button-up shirts paired with trousers. Being extremely tall, slender, and dressing rather masculine, in the blur of a moment, some siblings often do confuse Yua with their deceased father, but she doesn’t mind. In fact, in a sickly sense, it makes her proud.[break][break] EXTRAS ⋆The one physical item that Yua received from her father was the same embellished lighter that Kenta had used on the night where he showed Hiroaki and her fire for the first time. Despite its age and ancient appearance, Yua treasures it greatly and often keeps it in her pocket, just like her father once did.[break][break] SIBLINGS ⋆
